for daenerys
Aug. 26th, 2025 02:36 pmThere is a chill in the air at Castle Black that has nothing to do with the late autumn winds that pierce through the stones. After being resurrected by the Red Witch Melisandre, his first task had been setting all of the traitors to hang. It's messy business, doing such a thing, but he has to establish that dissension in the ranks will not be tolerated.
"If you wish to leave, then go without any penalty. There will be no more anger harbored in this Night's Watch, not when the real enemy is battering at our doors." He seems satisfied enough with that particular speech even if it isn't his best work and goes to settle in his office to work on the things that have fallen behind while he was, in fact, dead.
That's where he is late one night when Satin knocks at his door and announces that there is a queen come to visit them. Jon frowns a little. The only queen he knows of is Margaery, or is it Cersei? Politics in the south have been less and less of concern as the White Walkers grow in power. All he does know is that Cersei would have golden hair like all the Lannisters.
"Is she blonde, Satin?"
Satin nods his head. "Pale as snow. Claims to be from across the Narrow Sea but the right Queen of Westeros. A Targaryen."
That changes everything. He asks that she be welcomed in along with any men she's brought with her and shown into his office. Jon himself prepares the wine, imagining she's miserable after a long trip across the sea and through the North and when he hears a rap at the door, he's not sure what to expect.
"Come in, Your Grace. We honor a queen at Castle Black."
