Personality:

Life is hard for bastards, cripples and broken things and in this, Jon is no exception. From the time he was small, Jon has always had to deal with the stigma of his birth and for every person who called him brother there were two more who called him bastard instead. Growing up in Winterfell instead of on the streets like most bastards meant Jon had a lord’s education and a lord’s nice things: things that set him apart from his new brothers on the Wall and left him just as much an outcast among beggars and thieves as he'd been among lords and ladies.

Living in two worlds and fitting into neither makes Jon a lonely man and, now that he has age and experience, one who doesn’t trust easily. More prone to keep his own counsel than that of others, Jon has grown into a quiet man who watches and weighs out the options before making a decision instead of jumping into something headlong. He has a deep respect for the laws and customs of the North, both those of the ancient noble houses and the Watch, but will break those laws for those precious few loved ones he has: first Robb, for whom he tried to desert, then Ygritte, a woman he loved and finally his sister, Sansa, after he hears of her marriage to Bolton.

While he has no love for command he is adept at it, able to read men and their motivations with relative ease and skilled at telling a lie and keeping it hidden. His competence and bravery make men follow him even if they don’t love him and Jon’s honor is what drives him to be the best he can be, not the fleeting love of men. This makes him unafraid to make an unpopular decision or a decision that defies precedent, making him a formidable lord commander in spite of his age. Jon tries to be fair above being honorable and while he has qualms about breaking his oaths he will do so if he thinks it benefits the greater good of the Watch and, ultimately, the realm as a whole.

It's this experience with the Watch that makes him a good king, a king who never wanted a crown, and while he makes decisions which aren't necessarily politically sound, they always have the best intentions for his people at heart. Jon has a good heart and is a fierce fighter, willing to be at the forefront of any fight to drive back the undead horde or, even, face down a dragon.


Sex: Jon has only had one sexual relationship, with a Wildling woman named Ygritte, and it was a healthy relationship where Jon learned not to be ashamed of wanting pleasure or giving it. He does worry about fathering children, since he's a bastard and doesn't want to put more of them into the world, but otherwise has a healthy outlook on sex. He wouldn't be against having sex in a sex-positive environment, so long as he had a chance to get to know the person he was with because Jon doesn't do sex without feelings.
