Personality: In Westeros, a man’s destiny is set from the time of his conception. Should a man be lucky enough to be a trueborn son of a nobleman and his wife, the world is his oyster and all opportunities are ripe for the plucking given enough gold and political savvy but Jon Snow is not one of those men. Jon Snow was born the lone bastard of noble Lord Eddard Stark and his parentage remains shrouded in mystery to this day. Some say Stark got him on a serving wench named Wylla, others suspect highborn Ashara Dayne but all knew that life as a bastard would be anything but easy.

Jon grew up alongside his trueborn brothers and sisters, the Starks of Winterfell, but he was never truly one of them. At fourteen, full of a foolish boy’s pride and the desire to be something more than a half-brother to the wolves, Jon asked to join the Night’s Watch along with his uncle, Benjen, so he could leave Winterfell and see the world that lay beyond the Wall. Life on the Wall is difficult and fraught with not only the dangers of battle but the dangers of one’s brothers, no longer highborn lords and ladies but murderers, rapists and thieves. The Wall served as the last line of defense against the hordes of Wildlings that lay beyond it and something colder and more sinister: the White Walkers.

While wars were fought in the south over thrones and crowns, Jon and his brothers waged war against the King-Beyond-The-Wall, Mance Rayder, and after being kidnapped by a raiding party, Jon lived among the Wildlings and even loved one, Ygritte, and forsook the vows he took along with the black. Rayder sought to conquer the wall itself and Jon, still faithful in spite of his missteps with Ygritte, broke away and took command of the Wall during Rayder’s assault. It was only the timely arrival of Stannis Baratheon, brother to the late king Robert, that held off the Wildlings and with the Night’s Watch in shambles, Jon was voted the 998th Lord Commander of the Wall.

Talented though he was with sword and bow, command did not set easy on Jon’s head and caught between the neutrality of the Watch and Stannis’ desire to be king, Jon was faced with a difficult choice: become legitimate and Jon Stark of Winterfell, a puppet lord to help set Stannis on the Iron Throne or stay loyal to his family and his vows and remain Jon Snow of the Watch. Jon chose the Watch, and his vows, though the choice didn’t come easily or sit well with Stannis.

But Jon's resolve to remain a neutral Black brother, a lord commander who takes no part was broken when he realized that the Wildlings would be needed as allies to fight against the onslaught of the White Walkers. Complicating matters further is the arrival of his long-lost sister, Sansa Stark, newly fled from the sadist Ramsay Bolton and looking to retake Winterfell. While successful, Jon is indebted to the knights of the Vale and their less-than-trustworthy lord, Petyr Baelish.

With the North won, Jon's battles have not ceased. The true battle is beyond the Wall and pits living against the dead. On the behest of Tyrion Lannister and against the advice of his sister, Sansa, he goes south to Dragonstone to treat with Daenerys Targaryen, the self-proclaimed Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. He hopes to win her aid in the fight against the White Walkers and the Night's King but weeks at Dragonstone prove tedious as Daenerys is only concerned with having Jon bend the knee and lend his soldiers against the Lannister cause. He eventually persuades her to allow him to take a party north to capture a wight and bring it back to show Cersei Lannister, to ask for a truce in exchange for her men to help fight the battle against the dead. While they are successful in their mission, it is not without casualty: Daenerys loses a dragon in the fight and it is raised as another undead member of the Night King's horde.

Jon enters the game after boarding a ship to go north once again, this time with the Targaryen armies behind him, in Game of Thrones 7x07 - The Dragon and the Wolf.

Powers/Abilities/Talents: Jon is an excellent swordsman and bowman, having been a ranger both for the Night's Watch and beyond the Wall while he was a spy.
