gone a-raiding (wildling au)

Normally raiding parties didn't go this south but the green lands had better meat, better women and better crops for stealing. Jon was one of the best and usually when things were slim for them up above the Wall, they sent him and Tormund south because they could slip around the crows' arrows easier than the others.
Lately, the crows all seemed busy with some king or lord so it was nothing to slip past the lightly garrisoned castle at the Shadow Tower and make their way south. They kept off the road, too easy to be seen, and poached from the land as they went further and further toward the great grand castle they called Winterfell.
"They call this the Wolfswood," Tormund said, chewing a blade of grass thoughtfully. Jon could see why. There were wolves here, though they were the small ones that were no match for his direwolf. As they killed, he kept the pelts; they'd make a fine cloak. They came up on a pond in the wood, found a horse tethered there, heard the soft sounds of a woman.
"We'll be seen," Tormund hissed but Jon couldn't help it. He was curious, too curious, and drew up closer. She was kissed by fire, with hair the color of dancing flames, and he longed to reach out and touch it. The first girl he'd ever stolen had been kissed by fire and when he'd made love to her, she'd told him he was lucky for it.
In his desire to get closer to her, he stepped on a branch and it cracked loudly, giving away his position.

Of course her bow and quiver accompanied her, but in the countless times she disappeared from Winterfell, she had only ever run into trouble once.
This would mark the second time.
Crouched elegantly by the pond, she was looking at her reflection in the water as long red hair hid her face away from the eyes that were watching. But blue-grey eyes snapped up and immediately went to the wildling man in surprise.
Ygritte froze, only spending a short second to damn herself for leaving her weapon where she left her horse, leaving her with only one option.
To run.

Still, Jon wanted her, so he gave her the chase. She was swift but he was too and he had spent a lot more time in the woods recently. He knew the paths, know how to use his longer stride to his advantage.
When he was within reach of her, he slung his arm around her waist, tumbling her down and pinning her to the forest floor. "Don't run. I won't hurt you."

Of course she struggled against him, his words doing nothing more than backing more of an insistent fight. Oh, Ygritte knew who and what he was. She'd remembered the stories Old Nan told her, now even more vividly at that precise moment than ever.
"If you're smart, you'll let me go. My father will come looking for you and he will hunt you down." she said breathlessly, trying desperately to jerk free out of the hold he had on her.

Some Wildlings did. The Thenns would pillage a whole town, put the people to the flame and eat them whole. Some raped and reaved. Jon couldn't be like that and Tormund had a soft spot too; it was why Jon preferred to go hunting with his kinsman over anyone else.
He lifted a hand and touched her cheek, marveling at how soft her skin was. "I have to take you back with me. You're mine, now, because I've caught you raiding. That's how it works."

She stopped and let out a sharp scream. There was no way in hell she was going to make this easy for him.

She was so, so beautiful. Still, a lord's daughter wasn't the type of woman he normally carried off. Too much danger in that and too much risk they'd be pursued. Better to get a crofter's daughter, a fisherman's wife - someone who wouldn't be chased after.

It stunned her into silence.

He'd cared for them, in his way, and he'd never taken a woman with brute force. No sense in that, when he could coax them into making the sweetest sounds with just a kiss or three.

It was enough to coerce one such sound as Ygritte pushed against his chest. Not to push him away, but to catch the breath he'd stolen from her.
After a moment her eyes met his. "I don't even know your name." she whispered breathlessly.
